Boot Camp

Clinic Days
    

Boot Camp is for handlers who need to get their dogs into top condition but may be short on time to do so. You leave your dog with me for 3 to 5 days a week and they will come on the road with me. During the day I will take advantage of the time together to work their Individual Fitness Plan to get maximum conditioning benefits
    
Clinic days were designed to provide conditioning services to training facilities and their clients. We start by coming to the training facilities to complete assessments, develop Individual Fitness plan, and provide initial program instruction. This is followed up by additional visits to conditioning clients to do program revisions with dogs and handlers every 6 to 8 weeks           

FitPAWS Assessment
    

The assessment is a comprehensive process that is paramount in importance to the conditioning program, the assessment will include:
   
    health history including previous injury
    review
   
    physical examination and body scan
   
    measurements and range of motion
   
    gait assessment
   
    fitness assessment
   
    review of owners goals
        

   
FitPAWS Program Instruction
    

During this phase the Owner will meet with the Trainer to review the finding of the assessment, make recommendations  and to receive one-on-one instruction on their dogs Individual Fitness Plan including a warm up and cool down program
    
    

Open Gym
    

This is a drop in program for dogs who have completed an individual assessment with me. Dogs and handlers are welcome to come in and work their program using the equipment prescribed during their assessment.
 
While I will be there for support if needed this will not be a facilitated class and I may in fact be working one on one with other clients. 
 
Dogs and handlers attending this class must have completed an Assessment as well as Program Instruction.

Individual Conditioning Session
    

This option provides clients with one-on-one instruction with the FitPAWS Master Trainer.
 
This individual attention will provide the best results in meeting your dog's fitness and conditioning goals
        

Fitness Plan Revised
    

Structured Gym
    

During this phase we review the dog's program and progress and revisit goals;
a new program is developed based on the progress that has been achieved.
 
It is recommended that a program revision in done every 6-12 weeks based on the dog's progress towards your goals.
    
This class will be offered in a class format to dogs and handlers that have completed and individual assessment with me. During the assessment an individualized fitness plan will be developed based on your dogs needs and handlers goals for the dog.
 
You will work this program in the Structured Gym class and I will be there to facilitate and assist you in getting maximum benefit of prevention focused conditioning.
 
Dogs and handlers attending this class must have completed an Assessment as well as Program Instruction.

High Voltage
    

This class will be offered to dogs that are defined as High Drive.
 
The High Drive Dog is a challenge to condition; these dogs are highly active both mentally and physically and require plenty of exercises as well as mental stimulation.
 
In this class, dogs will work their program that has been developed by the FitPAWS Master Trainer as well as doing fast-paced circuits and Dog Tread time.
 
Dogs and handlers attending this class must have completed an Assessment as well as Program Instruction.
    

Dog Tread
    

Dog Tread is now available for Rental, it is housed at Wag Awhile in Newmarket. It is incredibly quiet and can be used for dogs up to 160 pounds.

For those who are not familiar with this piece of equipment, it has sides that fold up so that they serve as a guide and help keep the dog safely on the moving carpet. It has a bowl where you can put kibble or treats to help keep the dog going at the right pace and in the right position. There is a remote to help you slowly increase or decrease the speed or stop. There is also a red safety clip which can be temporarily attached to the collar (at the end of a red chord) to help in case the treadmill needs to stop right away. Very quiet. Starts and stops slowly to help prevent injuries.

Use it or Lose it
    

This class is for our Senior dogs, keeping our senior dogs active is very important and can help their quality of life.
 
The focus of this class will be low impact work circuit work. Our senior dogs tend to lose muscle mass in their hind end as they age, we will incorporate hind end work in this class.
 
Dogs and handlers attending this class must have completed an Assessment as well as Program Instruction.

Puppy Power
    

In this class we will introduce FitPAWS conditioning equipment that dogs will use later in their career.
 
Equipment will be used to build confidence and body awareness in a fun play-based format.
 
Puppy Power is ideally suited for puppies who have already attended a puppy class and are under a year of age. 

Hybrid Class:
Use it or Lose it / Fat-Don't-Fly
    

Use it or Lose It: This class is for our Senior dogs, keeping our senior dogs active is very important and can help their quality of life.

Fat Don't Fly
    

This class is for our dogs who have packed on some pounds, the focus is weight loss. The most recent statictic is that 54% of our dogs are overweight. TRAINING

Training is offered for a wide range of activities. Training will focus on meeting the owner's goals for their dog and build teamwork with their canine partner.

Rally Run Review Revised

Kindergarten Puppy Training    

   
In this class we will do practice rally runs and record them. Next we will review the video, discuss what we saw and make a plan for changes. Then we will complete the run again with the changes we have made based on our observations.
RALLY-RUN-REVIEW-REVISE is a great way to improve your skills and your dog's skills and to build your partnership.
 
    
   
This class is a 7 week class for puppies under a year of age. It will instruct basic training for puppies using positive reinforcement and shaping. This class will focus on skills that will start puppies on the path to becoming Good Canine Citizens.
    


Introduction to Nosework

Dog Show Handling Class

   
This class is for dogs who are just starting Nosework. We will work on odour recognition, learning to read your dog, developing an indicator. This class will prepare dogs and handlers for pre-trial and container work.
    
    
   
From the beginner to the experienced, we gear our classes to each dog-person team's needs. The class format is made up of gaiting, stacking and examinations, coupled with discussions of breeds and breed standards. We will also cover various incidents that may occur in the show ring. We will help you get show ready.

Interior Search

   
Dogs and handlers taking this class should have already taken and intro course.
 
We will be working on refining indicators, further developing dog and handler communication and search patterns.
 
This class will pre-pare dogs and handlers for Interior searches;
   
The first half of this class will be Puppy Power and introduce FitPAWS conditioning equipment that dogs will use later in their career.
 
Equipment will be used to build confidence and body awareness in a fun play-based format.
 
The second Half of this class will be Performance Puppy and puppies will work on obedience foundation skills as well as be introduced to sports equipment they will use in their future career as a performance dogs.


Performance Puppy

   
This class is ideally suited for puppies 4 – 8 month of age and are looking towards a career in performance.
 
In this class the puppies will work on obedience foundation skills as well as be introduced to equipment they will use in their future career as a performance dog.

This class is ideally suited for puppies 4 to 8 month of age and are looking towards a career in performance.
 
In this class the puppies will work on obedience foundation skills as well as be introduced to equipment they will use in their future career as a performance dog.


Supersize Socializing

 It's difficult it to get puppies and young dogs out enough to socialize them when you have full-time jobs, families and children.
 
We wanted to offer some help with the all-important task of socializing puppies and young dogs to help put them on the road to becoming successful show dogs and performance dogs.
 
As your dog's socializing agent your puppy would come and stay with me for a period of time that you choose.
 
I am currently out teaching classes 5 days a week in four different locations or attending classes with my own dogs and
I am often attending shows and events on the weekend.
 
Your puppy would be on the road with my dogs and myself and have the opportunity to meet many other dogs and people daily. The rest of the time they would be treated as one of our own dogs and for those of you who know me well my dogs are very valued family members.
    

OWNER EDUCATION

Owner education has been designed to provide information to enhance owners understanding of a specific topic. Workshops can be developed and custom made to meet a particular group's needs.

Introduction to Nosework
    

Nosework is fun for humans; dogs love to participate and it’s good for building confidence and focus in dogs. Nosework provides an excellent opportunity for dogs and handlers to build partnership and trust. Nosework is great for puppies to build confidence and great for retired dogs who still want to work. It provides fun and challenge for dogs and handlers alike.
